Built in 1911 by J & K Smit,
Krimpen-aan-de-Lek, Netherlands
Engines : Compound diagonal, replaced by diesel-hydraulic unit
- 12 cylinder 620 HP Cummins diesel + 2 x 300 HP Hagglunds hydraulic
wheel engines
Length : 57.88 metres
Built as Reederij op de Lek No 6, serving the River Lek
between Culemborg and Rotterdam
Regular services were shut down in 1948, with No 6 out of service
from 1946 except for charters.
Sold in June 1950, sailing to a mooring at 422 Km mark near
Ludwigshafen on the Rhein in Germany.
Renamed Kurpfalz and used as a restaurant and pilot station.
Machinery, boiler and paddlewheels removed and additions were made to
the deck houses
Returned to Muiden in the Netherlands for restoration in 1976 on the
instruction of Dutch musician Wijnand Key
Restored at the Scheepswerf Schouten at Muiden.
Named Kapitein Kok after her last Captain, the vessel was fitted with new
machinery, wheels and saloons
Reentered service in June 1977 and maintained a regular programme
until 1980
Visited her old haunts on the Lek, but based at Amsterdam's
Oostelijke Handelskade
Owned by the Radersalonboot Kapitein Kok BV, under the control of
Martin Key, until sold to Mr Jacob Bonninga in 2002
Sails from Javakade on Amsterdam's
Ij, but normally only on charters and does not offer a public sailing schedule
Specialises
in high quality cuisine and live entertainment tailor-made for large groups
and functions in luxuruiously-furnished saloons.
Renamed
Kapitein Anna after being taken over by the luxury sailing ship builder
Quo Vadis in 2013 and given a thorough refurbishment.
Returned to service at Easter 2014 and offered for charter for conferences, training events and parties
Note:
Reederij op
de Lek 2 was also sold for static use on the
Rhein and for many years was used as a rowing club house at
Andernach.
