InTramCities  with Gordon Stewart  : Closed tramway Alignments
Budapest

From Baross ter (Keleti pu railway station) along Thokoly utca : Closed in 1997 : photographed in 1986

The tram route originally terminated at Rakospalota, MAV-telep, the outer section being cut back to Erzsebet Kiralyne utja alujaro and diverted to the nearby terminus of Metro Line 1 at Mexicoi utca.
Trams stops on Thokoly utca which were closed were Dozsa Gyorgy utca, Stefania utca, Hungaria korut and (on Mexicoi utca) Korong utca
Temporary bus replacement service which became permanent

In 2026, tracks but no overhead remained in situ from just behind the Erzsebet Kiralnye tram stop on Mexicoi utca stop as far as Thokoly utca on a grassy roadside reservation. The slewed track for the tram stop were removed and replaced by a bus bay. Street-based track remains in Thokoly utca with some discontinuations and, in places, overhead.
