InTramCities with Gordon Stewart : Closed tramway Alignments
Oslo, Norway
Storgata between Nygata and Kirkeristen, with the tram stop Kirkeristen. Closed in November 2018
Approximately
100 metres of track which provided a direct link for trams on Storgata
from Grefsen and Kjelsas to Kirkerisen and onwards to Stortorvet
without diverting via Nygata, Jernbanetorget and the western section of
Biskop Gunnerus gate. All trams now run via Nygata. Overhead has been removed. A
new tram stop, Storgata, was opened in June 2021 beyond the Nygata
junction close to the former tram stop Brugata following reopening of
this section of tramway after major road reconstruction. From November
2018 until June 2021, trams were re-routed via Stenersgata, Christian
Kroghs gate (with a tram stop established at Lilletorget) and Hausmanns
gate .
