Steamship "Stord 1" at Bergen, Norway on 19th June 2016

Stord 1was built in 1913 and served as a passenger ship along the west coast of Norway between Stavanger and Bergen until 1969.  She underwent various changes, including dieselisation in 1947. After she was withdrawn from service she served as a floating welfare centre for alcoholics in Oslo. She was bought by preservationists in Bergen in 1980 and was restored to her 1931 condition, including "new" second-hand steam engines from a British ship. She was out of service again after a fire in 1987 but after restoration, she returned to service out of Bergen in 2005. She is run by volunteers
