Andrew Dawson Reid
was active in steamboat owning from 1897 to 1904 purchasing a number
of second hand steamers and operating them under various separate
company names. One notable purchase was PS Lady of the Isles which
had previously been called Jupiter. This vessel was the former Lord
of the Isles (I) which had started life on the Glasgow-Inveraray run
before becoming a very popular vessel on the River
Thames.
